Quick Clarification on the Rotating Parties

At least one person has asked me about the rotation of the political party holding the U.S. Presidency, wanting to know my opinions on why this happens.

In a nutshell, it's pretty simple, at least according to my cynical side.

We can't find a party candidate that properly represents us and can do a credible job of leading our country. So we keep switching back to a candidate from a party that has proven that it can't do the job in hopes that they'll be better than the previous one.

In a variation of the classic, "The Lady or The Tiger", Imagine being trapped in a room with four doors, one on each wall. Every time we open door #1, a tiger leaps out. Every time we open door #2, a tiger leaps out. Now one would think that eventually, we'd pick door #3 or #4. But we, the electorate, always go back to doors #1 and #2.

Perhaps some day, the voters will wake up and put a different party in power in Washington. Libertarian, Green, whatever. Then, things may change for the better. With the dumbing down of America and the vast fortunes at the disposal of the ruling elite who prefer things this way, i seriously doubt that this is going to happen.

In the mean time, take The World's Smallest Political Quiz and see where you truly stand politically.
